Company Values
At Ouzman IP we strongly believe that profit and finances, although key to any successful business, should not dictate the way we run our business or should not compromise our core values.
In essence, we would like Ouzman IP to be a place where staff and clients feel appreciated and where we can make our small contribution to improve the community around us.
As a business we try and provide the best possible experience for our clients, but we are also aware there are much more important aspects to life.
We are committed to treating our staff and clients with respect and dignity. Since we ourselves understand the complications and pressure of running a small business we aim to be as supportive as possible to our small business or individual clients. We are a signatory to IP Inclusive and work hard to ensure that our staff enjoy a healthy work-life balance. We strongly support staff with young families or with family related strains.
We aim to try to be environmentally friendly as possible and thus reducing our effect on the natural environment.
As a company we donate 10% of our profits to charity, in order to contribute the community around us. We actively support our local community through Glasgow City Mission, who provide much needed help to the homeless and hungry in Glasgow, as well as contributing to projects abroad through Tearfund, most recently in their Yemen appeal. Further projects close to Bev’s heart such as the SweetHome Farm Community Hall in Cape Town, South Africa have also been supported.
Our company values are very much orientated in line with Bev’s personal values when she first set the company up and we hope to maintain and develop these further in the future.

Bev Ouzman
Bev has over 20 years experience as a qualified patent and trademark attorney. Before starting Ouzman IP she was a Director of a large multi-national IP firm for 15 years – and has been responsible for training many of the top biotechnology patent attorneys in Scotland! She enjoys all aspects of IP, and has vast experience in advising clients ranging from individuals and SMEs to large corporates, as well as Universities, Research Institutes and spin-out companies.
Bev has particular expertise in life sciences and biotechnology. She has handled technologies ranging from pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, nanotechnology, stem cells, viral vectors, genetic constructs, plant and protein biochemistry, to medical devices and simple household appliances. She also loves trademarks and designs.
Her aim in starting Ouzman IP was to ensure a more client-focused approach – and to have greater flexibility to charge an agreed price rather than a time-based charge. She also enjoys being able to cycle into work!
Bev was elected as a Council member for the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys in 2011 and is also an Examiner for examinations for qualifying as a UK patent attorney.
